History Of The Garment
Its designer, Samuel Sherman, founded several fashion labels, including Dollyrockers, favoured by models and pop stars in the early 1960s. He was a pioneer of new textile innovations including Terylene, Tricel and Orlon, as well as playing a major part in the evolution of mass produced fashion. From the 1970s, he started making garments under the ‘Clothes by Samuel Sherman’ label, which became synonymous with the ‘London Look.’ It would be fascinating to know more about the story behind the print design of this dress, which appears to feature the minarets and domes of a distant land.
