History Of The Garment

Helen Sykes who was born in Athens and after meeting British soldier Albert Skyes, she left war-torn Greece for a post-war Yorkshire. After the birth of her twin girls she began work part-time in Cresta and in 1962 and became a manageress for one of Leeds leading designer salons Henry Berger Fashions. When Henry decided to retire in 1978 she was encouraged by one of her best clients to go it alone and she went on to open her own Shop Helen Sykes Fashions. Helen persuaded both her daughter to join the business. Ann had been designing and making her own clothes and had worked in London for top British and French designers.  Best know for their occasional and evening wear this dress is a classic example of glamour and style that they produced so well.  Helen was tall and slender and almost feels the dress was designed for her.
