History Of The Garment
The history of the tapestry bag dates back to the 16th and 17th century but over the years handbags have changed in size, shape and intended use according to fashion and practical demands. The trend for small bags of unusual shapes and fabrics exploded in the mid 1950s and seen as too small for day to day life, but as a dressy accessory for the evening. The tapestry evening bag were often copies of a Victorian style purse which kept handkerchiefs and smelling salts.
